FDG Entertainment and Game Atelier's fantastic Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom is a spiritual successor — that actually feels like a rightful sequel, to be quite honest — to the classic Wonder Boy series developed by Sega.

Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom was released this past December for the PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and Windows; becoming a massive hit amongst Nintendo Switch owners. In fact, a mere week after the game released, FDG Entertainment revealed that the game had already sold 50 thousand copies, with Nintendo's handheld hybrid console being the one that sold the most copies.

After that reveal, it seemed that the Nintendo Switch continued to be the console of choice of players who purchased Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom, since the publisher also revealed — a month after the game's release — that their Wonder Boy spiritual successor was selling a lot better on the Switch.

Now, FDG Entertainment and Game Atelier are celebrating, once again, the success of Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom, revealing that they have managed to sell over a staggering 200,000 digital copies of the game. Neither the publisher nor the developer have revealed how many physical copies they've sold, but it is safe to assume that it's as equally impressive.

Games like Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom are not the norm these days, and players who have not yet had the chance to try it should definitely not sleep on this game. In fact, Nintendo Switch owners have access to the game's demo, which they can easily access from the Nintendo Switch eShop if they're still on the fence about purchasing it. They will not regret it.
