A few days ago, Game Freak revealed that the upcoming
Pokémon Sword and
Pokémon Shield would not be featuring the entirety of the Pokédex, as the developer expects players to get the remaining Pokémon via a paid app; needless to say, this didn't bode well with fans.
The news about this new paid Pokémon app only added fuel to the fire, since it had been speculated that the new Pokémon game would not feature the entire Pokédex, but players at least thought they could get them via the Pokémon Bank — and that is no longer an option.
As if that wasn't enough, Game Freak is once again under fire, as players who have already had access to
Pokémon Sword and
Pokémon Shield have realised that the developer is reusing character models for the Pokémon and
posted a thread on Reddit.
While there isn't anything intrinsically wrong with reusing character models, what fans are condemning is the fact that Game Freak lied about it; which, as a result, has made #GameFreakLied trend on Twitter.
Ever since Game Freak gave fans their first look of
Pokémon Sword and
Pokémon Shield, fans have pointed out how uninspired the game looks when compared to other titles on the Nintendo Switch — while also claiming that the game looks uninspired and too similar to previous entries.
Pokémon Sword and
Pokémon Shield will finally become available for the Nintendo Switch this Friday the 15th of November, but it seems that it won't be the massive hit that neither Game Freak nor Nintendo were hoping it would be. It will likely sell well, but word of mouth may be the real judge here.
Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield will be set in Galar, an expansive region with many environments—idyllic countryside, contemporary cities, thick forests, and craggy, snow-covered mountains. The people and Pokémon live together in this region, and they’ve worked together to develop the industries here.
