Today finally sees the release of SNK's critically acclaimed fighting sensation
Samurai Shodown on the Nintendo Switch. While gamers have had the opportunity to enjoy this title since June of last year, which has certainly helped to drum up hype for this release, this is the first time the title is available for Nintendo fans.
The PC version, which is expected to launch sometime in the beginning of this year, is still not released so at least Nintendo isn't the last platform to receive the game.
Samurai Shodown hits the console with a price tag of $49.99 and those who pre-ordered the phyical copy also receive two additional bonuses. First, those fans will receive a special controller skin featuring Haohmaru and Yashomaru. Meanwhile, the Neo Geo Pocket Classic
Samurai Shodown! 2 also comes free of charge with the pre-purchase.
To celebrate
Samurai Shodown's Nintendo Switch debut, SNK is offering a special 15% discount on the Season 1 Pass from now until March 17th, 2020. The warriors included in this pass are Rimurru, Basara, Kazuki Kazama, and Wan-Fu. Later this month players will be able to enjoy the first character from the Season Pass 2, Mina, who will eventually be joined by Sogetsu Kazama, Iroha, as well as a mysterious fourth fighter. Shizumaru Hisame will also eventually make their way onto the Ninteo Switch via free DLC content.
Because SNK is commited to the evolution of the fighting genre, they will be featuring
Samurai Shodown as a main tournament title at "Evolution Championship Series 2020" (EVO 2020) this year in Las Vegas, NV. SNK plans to show off their title's captivating art style, range of competitive in-game modes, and their unique approach to weapons-based combat. This event takes place from July 31st to August 2nd, 2020.
