During a special presentation that ws streamed mid-January of this year, Super Smash Bros. series creator Masahiro Sakurai revealed that the mysterious new fighter that would be joining the roster in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate would be none other than Fire Emblem: Three Houses' Byleth; to the dismay of many disappointed players.

Sakurai also revealed that 6 new Challenger Packs would be added to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate as part of the game's Season 2, although he didn't give away any relevant details regarding release dates, or even the name of the characters that are being added; he did, however, confirm that all 6 had already been chosen.

While we still have no idea when exactly is it that the first Challenger Pack will be released, we now know that said release date is being pushed back on account of Coronavirus — as recently revealed by Masahiro Sakurai himself.

In Sakurai's weekly column on Famitsu magazine, the Super Smash Bros. series creator revealed that he had to delay a presentation to Nintendo on account of the virus' outbreak, and that development is very likely to be delayed.

The news may upset some fans of the Super Smash Bros. series, but this is the right decision to make in order to prevent the virus from spreading any further. Whenever it is that the development team manages to get back to working on the DLC, we know they'll still do the best they can to deliver quality content; like they always have, to be quite fair.

Legendary game worlds and fighters collide in the ultimate showdown—a new entry in the Super Smash Bros. series for the Nintendo Switch system! New fighters, like Inkling from the Splatoon series and Ridley from the Metroid series, make their Super Smash Bros. series debut alongside every Super Smash Bros. fighter in the series…EVER!

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is currently available exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
