A new report seems to indicate that the Nintendo Switch is doing a low better than the Nintendo 64 did back in the day, which is really something worthy of recognition, in spite of the N64 losing out to Sony's PlayStation.
The information comes from VGChartz, who reported that the Nintendo Switch has managed to sell a respectable 217,096 units during the first week of April(ending on the 6th of April), which brought the Switch's lifetime sales to an impressive 33.15 million units since its launch on the 3rd of March in 2017.
In contrast, the Nintendo 64's lifespan was only of 6 years, releasing in 1996 and being discontinued in 2002, managing to sell a very respectable 32.93 million units in that time, an amount of units tat the Switch was very close to selling back
in January of this year.
The study conducted by VGChartz also revealed that the Nintendo Switch has sold 11.59 million units in the US, 8.82 million units in Europe, and 7.86 million units in Japan.
Nintendo set a very ambitious goal of selling 20 million units within their 2018 fiscal year and,
while this is a goal that they were not able to reach, it is still quite impressive that it has passed the lifetime sales of the Nintendo 64 in only a third of the console's life cycle; presaging a bright future for Nintendo's handheld hybrid system.
