For those that don't know, Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles is the latest installment in the Resident Evil franchise, and the second Resident Evil game for the Wii.

Umbrella chronicles is slightly different from the other games in the series, as it's a first-person/arcade style shooter, rather then an over-the-shoulder 3rd person action/adventure game.

Our initial impressions were somewhat slanted, as we're in the middle of Resident Evil 4 for the Wii. The only thing that Umbrella Chronicles seems to have in common with the previous games in the series is that you kill zombies, and various virus infected animals. It also expands on the history and story lines of the previous games, and lets you see some of the things that happened to other characters (like how Rebecca got to the mansion in the original Resident Evil).

It's much more like the shooters you may have seen in the local arcade (Houses of the Dead, Time Crisis, etc).

The Wii controllers seem to be fairly accurate, and reloading is pretty easy. Picking up items is a pain, as they don't stay on-screen very long.

The graphics and sounds are some of the best that you can find on the Wii, and the cut-scenes (which there are quite a few) are great.

We should have our full review complete within the next week or two. For now, the game looks solid if you're in the market for a new zombie shooter, and want to learn more of the Resident Evil back story, and more specifically, the infamous Umbrella.
