Nintendo has revealed the beautiful Nintendo 2DS XL Hylian Shield Edition that is based off the shield that the legendary hero—Link— has worn through the ages in The Legend of Zelda series. This new bundle also comes with The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds pre-installed and ready to play out of the box.
The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds was released in November 2013 for the Nintendo 3DS and is a sequel of sorts to the highly acclaimed The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past—considered by many to be one of the best games in the series— which was released in 1991 for the Super Nintendo.
n A Link Between Worlds, our hero needs to save Hyrule from an evil sorcerer that has turned the Seven Sages into paintings. The game is a love letter to the classic top-down persepctive titles the series was known for before its jump to 3D with The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.
The Nintendo 2DS XL Hylian Shield Edition is more proof that the Nintendo 3DS family of systems has still some life in it, which agrees with some sayings from the new Nintendo President, Tatsumi Kimishima, who said that they will continue supporting the 2DS and 3DS regardless of their main focus being on the Nintendo Switch.
