A brand-new entry in the Battletoads series was announced during Microsoft's conference at the E3 all the way back in 2018. The game actually seems to be a reimagining of the original series developed by Rare and released for the Nintendo Entertainment System in the early 90s.
While the announcement trailer for Battletoads was only the logo's reveal, it was enough to get long-time fans of the beat 'em up series excited — especially since the last Battletoads game was released for arcades in 1994.
A year later, during the E3 2019, Rare released a gameplay trailer for the game, giving players a first look at the Battletoads themselves, and of course showing off some gameplay.
The gameplay trailer for the new Battletoads game was not well received by fans, though, and one of the main complaints was its art style — which didn't really resonate with players at all, especially since the series always stood out for being edgy, and the new art style seems to do away with that edge.
Ever since that gameplay trailer was released last year, absolutely no news about Battletoads have been shared. However, some new information seems to suggest that a brand-new trailer could be releasing soon, though.
This information actually comes from Daryl Sinclair Gardner, video editor at Rare — who revealed that he's currently editing the new trailer, while responding to a comment on Twitter. It is also worth mentioning that Gardner's tweet has since been deleted, so take that as you deem appropriate.
Yesterday Rare shared a new trailer for Everwild, and players wondered whether they would also get some news about Battletoads. While the trailer may have not been ready for yesterday's Xbox Games Showcase presentation, fans may be able to see a new trailer for Battletoads rather sooner than later.
Battletoads still doesn't have an official release date.
