Magic Leap, the startup company behind the Magic Leap One AR headset, has announced distribution exclusivity rights to AT&T today, with an actual release date unknown yet set for later this year.
There are currently not many augmented reality (AR) headsets out on the market, most notably Microsoft's HoloLens, so this may certainly cause a surge of news from other competitors especially as price ranges for current available headsets range in the thousands, while Magic Leap hopes to price it as much as a smartphone.
This news most certainly comes as no surprise after it was also announced today that AT&T CEO, John Donovan, will become a board member for the startup, as well as have majority ownership after their investments. They join a group of companies that include Google and China's Alibaba Group that invested around $1.4 Billion back in 2016.
