Mass Effect Trilogy Remastered popped up on a Portuguese retailer last week and the publication was immediately taken down. This has not stopped fans from believing that BioWare is, indeed, planning on releasing a collection of the first three titles in the critically acclaimed series.
Rumours intensified early this week, when the alleged Mass Effect Trilogy Remastered was listed on a Czech retailer. According to the first leak, the game would release at some point in October, and the latest bit of infomration actually claimed that the collection would release on Thursday the 15th of October.
The information leaked by both retailers also revealed that Mass Effect Trilogy Remastered would be launching for the PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox One, although new information from a reputable source seems reveals that this is not really the case.
According to information shared by VentureBeat's Jeff Grubb, often considered to be a trustworthy insider, BioWare's alleged collection is actually called Mass Effect Legendary Edition; information he shared during the latest episode of the Xbox Expansion Pass podcast.
Grubb also has some sour news for Mass Effect fans, since he reveals that the alleged Mass Effect Legendary Edition will only be releasing for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, and that there are currently no plans to release Mass Effect on Nintendo Switch.
"EA has multiple games coming to Nintendo Switch and Mass Effect is definitely not one of them. Not yet, anyhow. If that happens, it won't happen in that one-year window that they talked about in their last shareholder meeting," Grubb revealed.
While Grubb's sources are usually trustworthy, this is still only but a rumour until Electronic Arts and/or BioWare confirm or deny this information. If this was the case, however, this is very disappointing news for Nintendo Switch owners, and fans of the series; after all, the idea of playing the Mass Effect trilogy on a portable console is more appealing than the collection itself.
