Ori and the Will of the Wisps is one of the three major Xbox One & Windows 10 exclusives for 2019 next to the long-delayed
Crackdown 3 and
Gears 5. Will of the Wisps’ story will play off of the power of relationships. In the game, environments will be vast, providing the player with multiple avenues of exploration, although you’ll need certain abilities to reach specific and dangerous areas.
Ori and the Blind Forest was a 2015 Metroidvania platformer strongly inspired by
The Iron Giant movie and video games like
Metroid (duh) and Michel Ancel's
Rayman. The upcoming sequel will have a shot at topping its highly successful predecessor, as developer Moon Studios have admitted that they are aiming to create an absolutely perfect Metroidvania trying to improve that once-popular genre.
Speaking on the message board of an Austrian podcast, Thomas Mahler, CEO of the Vienna-based studio, revealed that the developer will soon share some incredibly exciting new that will “
surprise the whole industry." Considering that Microsoft is the owner of the rights to
Ori and founded both games with the likable animal, chances of seeing any of those games on PS4 or Switch are basically non-existing, but we've seen stranger announcements happen, so let's stop speculating and just wait.
From the creators of the multi-award winning Ori and the Blind Forest comes the highly anticipated sequel: Ori and the Will of the Wisps. Embark on an adventure with all new combat and customization options while exploring a vast, exotic world encountering larger than life enemies and challenging puzzles. Seek help from discoverable allies on your path to unravel Ori's true destiny.
Ori and the Will of the Wisps is coming to Xbox One and Windows 10 in 2019.
