In April of this year, fans of Crytek's critically acclaimed Crysis series were teased by the developers, with a tweet on their official Twitter account that seemingly revealed that the developer was working on either a new game, or a re-release of one of the titles in the series.
A few days after that mysterious tweeeit, which only read "RECEIVING DATA," Crytek officially announced Crysis Remastered, which would be releasing for the PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and PC, although they had yet to reveal exactly when the game would become available.
Before Crytek had the chance to officially share the game's new trailer, it got leaked online, and the reception was overwhelmingly negative; with some fans complaining that Crysis Remastered looked like anything but a remaster of the original game.
The negative reception the leaked trailer for Crysis Remastered got prompted Crytek to reveal that they were listening to fans and that they would be pushing back the release in order to polish some more details — which is more than commendable, since they could've just called it quits and deliver the product they initially intended to release
Interestingly enough, the Nintendo Switch version of the game did release on the date the developer had originally scheduled. All of the other versions are expected to launch this Summer; new information, however, seems to reveal that Crysis Remastered could be launchign as soon as this week.
According to the PlayStation Access YouTube channel, the official channel of PlayStation in the United Kingdom, Crysis Remastered will actually be releasing for the PlayStation 4 this Friday the 21st of August. This could also mean that all of the other versions will be releasing on the same day.
Crytek has yet to officially confirm whether Crysis Remastered will, indeed, be releasing this week. What's more, they have yet to share a new trailer that actually shows off some gameplay; this is particularly important, considering how poorly the leaked trailer was received.
Hopefully, the developers at Crytek share some official information throughout the day. If Crysis Remastered really is expected to launch this Friday, the fact that they haven't promoted the game just yet is a pretty huge red flag. With that said, the Nintendo Switch version turned out great, so there's that.
