Just a few months ago, Crytek announced that they were working on Crysis Remastered, and that this enhanced version of the iconic first-person shooter will be releasing soon for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. Interestingly enough, the game is also releasing for the Nintendo Switch.

As a matter of fact, the Nintendo Switch is the only version that has been given an official release date. And, wouldn't you know it? The game is actually becoming available tomorrow on Nintendo's popular handheld hybrid console.

Crytek has recently shared a gameplay reveal of Crysis Remastered running on the Nintendo Switch, which gave players a fair idea of what to expect from the portable version of one of the most graphically demanding games ever made.

Can the Switch run Crysis, though? Can it even run a remastered version of it? Thanks to the people over at Digital Foundry, as recommended by the developers at Crytek themselves, we now know how well the game actually runs on what is definitely the least powerful of the platforms the game is releasing on.

As per Digital Foundry's in-depth tech analysis of Crysis Remastered for the Nintendo Switch, the game does experience some drops in framerate every now and then, but it mostly runs at the stable 30FPS the developers had revealed, and in 720p resolution when docked.

Crysis Remastered really shines in handheld mode, though, as the resolution is obviously reduced but not to the point of being distracting, and framerate remains pretty much the same; with a few drops here and there, especially when the screen has way too many things happening at the same time. Don't take my word for it, though, and be sure to check out Digital Foundry's analysis down below.

Give it a watch:

Crytek’s ground-breaking, critically acclaimed first person shooter is back! Crysis Remastered is coming to PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch – the game's debut on a Nintendo platform.

Crysis Remastered is expected to release for the Nintendo Switch on Thursday the 23rd of July; PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC versions to release soon.
