When it was rumoured that Crytek was working on a remastered version of the critically acclaimed Crysis, fans of the long-running series were pretty excited to see one of the most graphically demanding video games in history, getting an even more graphically demanding update.

Unfortunately — or fortunately, depending on the context — the announcement trailer for the game leaked before Crytek officially released it, and it was a disaster; fans complained that the remaster barely qualified for a remaster, and they weren't really exaggerating.

Crytek decided to delay the release of Crysis Remastered, although the Nintendo Switch version — yes, the game was also announced for Nintendo's portable device — was still being released on the date they initially intended for the remaster to launch on every other platform.

Surprisingly enough, Crysis Remastered on the Nintendo Switch was a huge success, and the game really looks phenomenal on a portable device — which is something never could've ever predicted, and made fans excited to see what the developer is capable of doing with the game on other platforms.

Crysis Remastered is releasing for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC next Friday the 18th of September, and this remaster looks quite sharp. In fact, the game is bringing Tray Racing to current-gen consoles for the first time ever, and a new clip released by Crytek will give players a better idea of what to expect when the game finlly becomes available next week.

Take a look:

What begins as a simple rescue mission becomes the battleground of a new war as alien invaders swarm over a North Korean island chain. Armed with a powerful Nanosuit, players can become invisible to stalk enemy patrols, or boost strength to lay waste to vehicles. The Nanosuit’s speed, strength, armor, and cloaking allow creative solutions for every kind of fight, while a huge arsenal of modular weaponry provides unprecedented control over play style. In the ever-changing environment, adapt tactics and gear to dominate your enemies, in an enormous sandbox world.

Crysis Remastered is currently available for the Nintendo Switch; PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC versions expected to launch on Friday the 18th of September.
