Obsidian's
Kickstarter campaign for Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire was a massive success and it seems as if the developer is trying to return some of that good-faith to its fanbase. GameInformer confirmed that the game will be released on PC on April 13 and that surprisingly, a release for the Switch, PS4 and Xbox One is also slated for the 2018 Holiday season. Whether that will see the port launched in November or December remains a mystery.
Game Informer further reports that Obsidian is currently finalizing the PC release of the game and that a separate studio, Red Cerberus, is handling the console port.
Previously, the first Pillars of Eternity installment was released on PC back in 2015 and it took 2 years before console ports for the PS4 and Xbox One were completed in 2017.
