The Nintendo Switch has been getting more and more players every day. Great games are being adapted for the Switch like Warframe and recently, Diablo III. If you haven’t picked up the Switch or are on the fence about it, now is the perfect time.
Blizzard and Nintendo have teamed up for Diablo III, according to Gamespot, this is the first time in 15 years that a Blizzard title has been on a Nintendo Platform. Senior Producer Pete Stilwell sat with Gamespot and talked about the future of this partnership, specifically mentioning Overwatch and Starcraft 2.
"Anything is within the realm of possibility," he said. "Our team was given the task to work on this. If [Overwatch developer] Team 4 picks up that endeavour, that's on them. As of right now Diablo is our only focus on Switch." Asked if he thinks Overwatch could run on Switch, Stilwell said, "Yes, it is feasible."
"The N64 version of StarCraft was cool but you had to change the game quite a bit to make it work properly on console," he said. "StarCraft 2 is next level requirements from how much dexterity you need with a mouse and keyboard, so I think that would have been a very difficult port. It would have [to] change the core gameplay."
The Switch not being able to handle Starcraft 2 is understandable. The cursor and keyboard work needed to play this game is highly demanding. Even though the Joy-con features the Switch has are remarkable, there is no way Starcraft could be playable in this console.
