The space-trading and combat MMO, Star Citizen is free-to-play this weekend. Developed by Cloud Imperium Games, players can hop in different game modes and experience excellent sci-fi gameplay.
This free weekend gives players four vehicles to try: Cutless Black, Protector, the Avenger Titan and Dragonfly Black. These will be available in two modes: dogfighting stage Arena Commander and the first-person Star Marine.
Here is an official post from the website:
"To begin your adventure, you would normally pledge for one of our starter packages, which gets you a user-friendly ship and game access. For a limited time, we're giving prospective Citizens the chance to explore the universe and test out a handful of ships and ground vehicles for free."
All you have to do in order to play is sign up in the Star Citizen website and use the code GETINTOTHEVERSE.
Chris Roberts, the co-founder, states that there is no "specific win state" and "you win by having fun, and fun is different things to different people". There is no pay-to-win element in the game.
Star Citizen's release date hasn't been announced.
