While the main draw of subscribing the PlayStation Plus would be attaining the ability to play multiplayer online, an added and appreciated benefit of the subscription would be that; PlayStation introduces a couple of games each and every month that PlayStation Plus subscribers can purchase and download entirely for free — beyond the initial subscription cost.
For instance,
Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection and
Goat Simulator are both currently available to download for free if you're subscribed to PlayStation Plus —

BioShock: The Collection and
The Sims 4 are the two main games that will be available for free next month (via
@PlayStation). However, there's also a more minor title called
Firewall Zero Hour that's for PlayStation VR — and included as a sort of bonus.
BioShock: The Collection includes three entire games — those being
BioShock,
BioShock 2, and
BioShock Infinite. They're all retrofuturistic first-person shooters.
The Sims 4 is a simulation game in which you have to do your best at guiding your Sim character through everyday life.
Firewall Zero Hour is yet another first-person shooter only this one is on the more realistic side of things.
