D3 publisher has announced that the upcoming action shooter video game Earth Defense Force: Iron Rain will be launching worldwide on April 11, the same day the game hits Japan. The title will only be available as a digital version with the options of a standard edition or an ultimate edition.

Iron Rain is a PlayStation 4 exclusive title and is developed specifically for the console. The PlayStation Store has the title ready for pre-ordering. The standard edition is going for a common price of $59.99 and the ultimate edition has a price tag of $89.99.

Player who pre-order any edition will get exclusive customized costumes, enhanced weapons and other items. The ultimate edition has an exclusive critical weapon and a bonus mission that will launch after a few days the game hits shelves. The EDF series moves away from its traditional series and into new territory with this new project. Developed by YUKE'S, with a theme song by Takashi Niigaki and creatures designed by Ryu Oyama for an EDF game that has never been seen before. Welcome to Earth Defense Force: Iron Rain. Set on planet Earth devastated by war, this new adventure joins the EDF as they continue to battle to save the world.
