Ghost of Tsushima is one of this year's most highly anticipated titles to release for the PlayStation 4. In fact, and now that The Last of Us Part II was finally released this past weekend, many consider Sucker Punch's upcoming title to be one of the final major releases this year; at least, for this current generation of consoles.
Everything that the developers at Sucker Punch have shown players about their upcoming title has been superb, and it definitely looks like Ghost of Tsushima will be a strong contender for this year's Game of the Year; as a game that seamlessly captures the essence of classic samurai moves by Akira Kurosawa, and even some video games like the first titles in the Tenchu series.
Ghost of Tsushima is expected to hit store shelves on Friday the 17th of July, so players will still have to wait for a little under a month to finally get their hands on this brand-new game. Interestingly enough, Sucker Punch and Sony initially intended for it to relese on the 26th of June — which would've seen the game launching in 4 days.
Sucker Punch announced that they were pushing back the release a little bit; thankfully, it wasn't as much of a delay as it could've been. The good news is that we now know for a fact that the game will no longer be pushed back, as the developer announces that Ghost of Tsushima has officially gone gold, and is ready to begin shipping.
Alongside the announcement, the developers at Sucker Punch show their excitement by letting players know that this is the culmination of hard work from everybody who was involved in the development of Ghost of Tsushima, and revealing that they cannot wait until players finally get to play it in July.
In 1274, the fearsome Mongol Empire invades the Japanese island of Tsushima and slaughters its legendary samurai defenders. Jin Sakai is one of the last survivors of a noble samurai clan. To combat his overwhelming foes, he must pioneer deadly new fighting techniques--the way of The Ghost--and wage an unconventional war for the people of Japan.
Ghost of Tsushima is expected to release exclusively for the PlayStation 4 on the 17th of July.
