In August of 2017, Sega and Ryū ga Gotoku Studio announced that they were working on a brand-new title in the Yakuza series, titled Shin Ryū ga Gotoku — keeping in mind that the Yakuza series is called Ryū ga Gotoku in Japan — which rougly translates to "New Like A Dragon".

Since the announcement, Sega has revealed only bits of information regarding this new title — which will no longer star Kazuma Kiryu, but a new character called Ichiban Kasuga.

During a recent launch event for the PlayStation 4 of Yakuza 5 in Taipei, Yakuza series Producer Daisuke Sato announced that new information about Shin Ryū ga Gotoku will finally be revealed on the 10th of July.

He revealed this information after he was asked if Kazuma Kiryu was going to be making an appearance in this new title, after his story arc wrapped up in Yakuza 6: The Song of Life. Sato also revealed that they will be announcing the supporting actress for the game.

At this point, all fans of the Yakuza series have to do is wait for more news regarding the project. In the meantime, Yakuza series' spin-off Judgment will be releasing tomorrow, so they can wait while playing this new title that launches as a PlayStation 4 exclusive. While Judgment is not a Yakuza title per se, it is still a game fans of the series will definitely enjoy.
