May 2026 is a lighter month for PlayStation, but a few releases are worth circling on your calendar. From a promising new Bond game by the makers of Hitman to Supermassive's latest cinematic horror experience, there's enough here to keep your backlog honest. Below is the full PS5 release schedule for May, along with our picks for the standout titles.

Kicking things off this week is the release of Mixtape on May 7. Published by Annapurna Interactive, which has a strong track record of backing critical darlings such as Stray and What Remains of Edith Finch, the upcoming Mixtape follows three friends who embark on one final adventure for their last night together. Inspired by classic coming-of-age films, Mixtape captures the messy, music-soaked experience of adolescence. I have a feeling this one will strike a note with millennials.

On May 12, Supermassive Games returns with their most ambitious cinematic horror yet. Directive 8020 follows the crew of a crashed colony ship, stranded on a distant planet and hunted by a deadly alien organism, all while carrying a secret that could save themselves or doom everyone back on a dying Earth. Expect the tense decisions and gut-punch consequences the studio does better than anyone.

Later in the month, Warner Bros. Games brings the LEGO formula back to Gotham with LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight. The combination of Batman's iconic rogues gallery with LEGO's family-friendly chaos is a proven formula and a safe pick for households with kids. And let's be honest, plenty of adults too.

Closing out the month is IO Interactive's new James Bond game. The team that redefined stealth gameplay with the modern Hitman trilogy is now taking on one of the most iconic franchises of all time, making 007 First Light one of the most anticipated releases of the year. Based on the Bond franchise, 007 First Light tells an original narrative inspired by the novels and short stories by Ian Fleming.
