The mystery is finally over. Sony has announced the release date for the highly anticipated
God of War on PlayStation 4: April 20, 2018.
The announcement was accompanied by a story trailer for the game.
From Santa Monica Studio and creative director Cory Barlog comes a new beginning for one of gaming’s most recognizable icons. Living as a man outside the shadow of the gods, Kratos must adapt to unfamiliar lands, unexpected threats, and a second chance at being a father. Together with his son Atreus, the pair will venture into the brutal Norse wilds and fight to fulfill a deeply personal quest.
Of course, with a release date comes all the different ways you can pre-order the game. Sony highlighted the limited Collector's Editions and Digital Deluxe Edition.
Pre-ordering any edition at a supporting retailer will give you access to three legendary shield skins. Additionally, if you pre-order any edition at GameStop or EB Games, you’ll also receive Luck of Ages XP Boost, which grants +10 Luck and has 1 Enchantment Slot. Luck influences increased XP gain, Hacksilver gain, and the ability to trigger perks.
Now on to the
Collector's Edition which for $129.99 gets you a 9" Kratos and Atreus statue, a cloth map, 2" Huldra Bros carvings pack, exclusive lithograph, steelbook case, and a ton of digital content.
The
Stone Mason Edition is priced at $149.99 and provides everything in the Collector's Edition along with along with four very distinct, rare items directly from the game: the Stone Mason Ring, Mimi Head talking keychain, 2" Norse and Troll carvings, and the Defender of the Chosen Shield (digital content). This is only available in U.S. and Canada.
Finally, the
Digital Deluxe Edition for $69.99 gets you a bunch of digital goodies, including a issue #0 from the Dark Horse digital comic book, a digital artbook, a dynamic theme, the Death's Vow armor set, and the Exile's Guardian shield. Pre-ordering this in U.S. and Canada also gets you a limited-run God of War physical pin.
