Lead gameplay designer for God of War, Jason McDonald, spoke in a recent interview about the design of Kratos' Leviathan axe and how it will give a different feel for the combat.
Replacing the iconic Blades of Chaos was a risky move, since fans might miss the hack and slash combat style God of War used over all their games. According to the team, the decision to introduce the Leviathan, a more modest and conventional weapon, paid off.
