The Last of Us Part II has had a rough lead-up to release what with a release date delay and a lot of the game's story leaking online for all to see and spread — so be wary! Nonetheless, the PlayStation 4-exclusive sequel will finally be releasing later this month, specifically on June 19th.
An official extended commercial has now been released online. It's animated with CGI, meaning that it isn't actual in-game gameplay nor footage, and it's pretty action-packed. We're shown Ellie essentially taking on the world. She's up against other human survivors of the apocalypse as well as Clickers, Runners, and whatnot (zombies, basically).
However, there's also footage of Ellie sitting beside Dina and playing her guitar. It's certainly more serene than the rest of the trailer and Ellie's vocals are played over and throughout it all. For those curious, the song seems to be an acoustic version of "True Faith" by New Order which first released back in 1987.
One ominous shot in particular appears to be teasing Dina's fate, something which has been the focus of much speculation. This extended commercial has been spotted on multiple American television networks but, of course, it's also available on YouTube and you can check it out below (via PlayStation):
Five years after their dangerous journey across the post-pandemic United States, Ellie and Joel have settled down in Jackson, Wyoming. Living amongst a thriving community of survivors has allowed them peace and stability, despite the constant threat of the infected and other, more desperate survivors. When a violent event disrupts that peace, Ellie embarks on a relentless journey to carry out justice and find closure. As she hunts those responsible one by one, she is confronted with the devastating physical and emotional repercussions of her actions.
The Last of Us Part II is set to release exclusively for the PlayStation 4 on June 19th, 2020.
