Naughty Dog's highly anticipted, and long-awaited The Last of Us Part II is finally becoming available in 9 days from today — giving fans of the series the chance to know what has been happening in the lives of Ellie and Joel since they last saw them in the critically acclaimed The Last of Us.
In recent weeks, Naughty Dog has been sharing a lot of information about the upcoming title — sharing some behind the scenes videos that see the developers commenting on the development process, and how they've approached this new story in a way that is meaningful to players.
We all know about the leaks that allegedly gave away key plot points from The Last of Us Part II, but Creative Director Neil Druckman has revealed that the ending still isn't out there, and that fans are still in for a treat once they finally get their hands on the game.
While it is true that the leaks did affect the marketing campaign for The Last of Us Part II, Naughty Dog has played their cards rather wisely, by somewhat leaving things slightly more ambiguous in every trailer and featurette they've released about the game.
Today, however, they've released the game's launch trailer, which actually doesn't show anything we haven't already seen — with the only thing new being Ellie's voice in the backround that, with conviction, reveals she won't be taking any prisoners; she'll find and kill every last one of them.
Check it out:
Five years after their dangerous journey across the post-pandemic United States, Ellie and Joel have settled down in Jackson, Wyoming. Living amongst a thriving community of survivors has allowed them peace and stability, despite the constant threat of the infected and other, more desperate survivors. When a violent event disrupts that peace, Ellie embarks on a relentless journey to carry out justice and find closure. As she hunts those responsible one by one, she is confronted with the devastating physical and emotional repercussions of her actions.
The Last of Us Part II is expected to release exclusively for the PlayStation 4 on the 19th of June.
