Jeremy Dunham, Zipper Interactive's Sr. Community Manager, revealed SOCOM 4's new "Pro" mode yesterday via the official Playstation Blog. Not only was the new mode detailed, but Jeremy also revealed that the new mode would require a one-time use code, similar to what has been used by other video game publishers (EA and BioWare's Dragon Age II and Mass Effect, etc.).
Effective April 26, anyone picking up a used copy SOCOM 4: U.S. Navy SEALs, which hit retailers yesterday, will have to pay $15 via the PlayStation Store to get a one-time use code of their own code.
... any player who purchases a new copy of SOCOM 4 receives exclusive access to all “Pro” Custom Game queues. Not only will these queues be ranked, but they’ll also be updated regularly over the entire lifespan of SOCOM 4 – so it’ll be the gift that keeps on giving for quite some time. Moreover, the first set of “Pro” Custom Game types will be the same fantastic rule sets that our diligent fans tested during our SOCOM 4 beta period.
SOCOM Pro players will receive an exclusive pair of weapons, within 30 days of SOCOM 4's reelase: The M-16 (for Spec-Ops) and the AK-47 (for the Insurgents) assault rifles.
Sony and Zipper Interactive apparently have big plans for SOCOM Pro, including access to exclusive multiplayer maps, various co-op additions, dedicated leaderboards, and "lots more".
