There's no denying it, Sony has had a rough few weeks since pulling down the PlayStation Network following the cyber-attack on April 20th. Now passing the three week mark of the outage, the company is being relatively quiet about when the network will be brought back online. They have stated that the PSN will be back online this month, but haven't been forthcoming with an exact date.
In their update earlier this week, Sr. Director of Corporate Communications & Social Media Patrick Seybold shared the following via their official blog:
I know you all want to know exactly when the services will be restored. At this time, I can’t give you an exact date, as it will likely be at least a few more days. We’re terribly sorry for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience as we work through this process.
As if the three weeks of downtime aren't bad enough, it looks like Sony may have to be concerned about disgruntled customers jumping ship.
Reports this week from retailers are showing an increase in PS3 trade-ins for Xbox 360, as well as an increase in Xbox 360 sales.
"We're just ten days into the month and already we have an increase of 200 percent in PS3s coming into the store compared to all of March. Normally we sell them really fast, but not this time. We've only sold 30 to 40 percent of our inventory right now."
Our ongoing
PSN Outage Poll - Switching To Xbox? seems to fall inline with the current reports as well, with now over 41% of PS3 owners have switched to Xbox 360, or are thinking about it. If you haven't done so already, you can participate below.
