In April of this year, Square Enix finally put an end to a 5-year-long wait by releasing the ridiculously highly anticipated Final Fantasy VII Remake, and giving seasoned players, as well as newcomers to the series, the definitive version of one of the most iconic video games in history.

Final Fantasy VII Remake was critically praised by fans of the series, fans of the original game, newcomers, and critics; with a very solid 87/100 on Metacritic. Needless to say, all of the waiting was more than worth it, and everybody seems to agree on it being a top quality product.

The thing here is, however, that the game doesn't really cover all of the events from Final Fantasy VII, as Square Enix revealed that this was only part one of an undetermined number of titles that tell the story from the original game. Unfortunately, we don't know when the next part will release, nor how many parts will there be.

Today we have some great news for fans of the Final Fantasy series, as Final Fantasy VII Remake Producer Tetsuya Nomura has revealed that the sequel to the critically praised title has entered full production, and that the developer wants to deliver it "as soon as possible."

This information comes from the latest issue of Famitsu Magazine, in which Nomura mentions that they "know that everyone wants the next installment quickly. We would also like to deliver it as soon as possible."

Nomura doesn't stop there, as he mentions that the sequel will also be a top quality product, and that they event want to surpass Final Fantasy VII Remake; strictly in terms of quality, of course.

"Since we were also able to see the line of quality from the first installment, we hope to make the next installment even better in quality that can make for an even better experience. We would like to get it out as soon as possible, so please wait for it. I think we can clearly convey the direction when we officially announce the next installment," Nomura explains.

It seems that we will still have to keep waiting for Square Enix to officially announce the sequel to Final Fantasy VII Remake, but at this point it is safe to say that it will not be releasing on this generation of consoles — which is a shame for those who want to play and/or own all "episodes" on one platform.

In Midgar, a city controlled by the mega-conglomerate Shinra Inc., the No. 1 Mako Reactor has been blown up by a rebel group, AVALANCHE. AVALANCHE was secretly formed to wage a rebellion against Shinra Inc., an organisation which is absorbing Mako energy, destroying the natural resources of the planet. Cloud, a former member of Shinra's elite combat force, SOLDIER, was involved with the bombing of the Mako Reactor. Can Cloud and AVALANCHE protect the planet from the huge, formidable enemy, Shinra Inc.?

Final Fantasy VII Remake is currently available for the PlayStation 4.
