It looks like Square Enix is finally ready to reveal some new details on the long-awaited remake of 1997's
Final Fantasy VII. While the Japanese company has already shared an action-packed gameplay trailer for the upcoming title and promised new information for next month, the studio has also reaffirmed that
Final Fantasy VII: Remake's structure hasn't changed and remains episodic in nature.
Today, Square shared a new press release confirming that the original promise will be kept and players can expect that this bigger-than-life story will hit digital stores in at least two parts – but if there's one thing we remember from playing
Final Fantasy XIII (that debuted as three huge chapters), it's rather safe to say that the team at Square is not scared of stretching their stories to the breaking point.
While Sony won't be hosting its annual E3 media briefing this year, there's a big chance that
Final Fantasy VIII: Remake will make an appearance during the big show anyway, as the jRPG is also coming to Xbox One and Square’s E3 2019 event will take place on Monday the 10th of June at 6PM PT.
In the meantime, be sure to take a look at yesterday’s
Final Fantasy VII: Remake trailer down below:
In Midgar, a city controlled by the mega-conglomerate Shinra Inc., the No. 1 Mako Reactor has been blown up by a rebel group, AVALANCHE. AVALANCHE was secretly formed to wage a rebellion against Shinra Inc., an organisation which is absorbing Mako energy, destroying the natural resources of the planet. Cloud, a former member of Shinra's elite combat force, SOLDIER, was involved with the bombing of the Mako Reactor. Can Cloud and AVALANCHE protect the planet from the huge, formidable enemy, Shinra Inc.?
Final Fantasy VII: Remake is coming to Xbox One and PlayStation 4 as Square Enix hasn't announced anything officially its release date yet.
