We still don't have a release date for the Final Fantasy VII remake but this year's Monaco Anime Game International Conferences (MAGIC) event saw new footage from the remake released and fans in attendance have uploaded some screenshots to Twitter.  The footage shown was from the game's opening Mako reactor boss fight with the Scorpion tank.

Fans were quick to zero in on the battle menu screen which looks very similar to the layout in the Kingdom Hearts franchise.  Creative director Tetsuya Nomura has already indicated that the remake will not feature the turn-based combat system from the original and it looks as if something akin to combat gameplay in Kingdom Hearts II is what will be used.  This is something Nomura originally intended for Final Fantasy Versus XIII before that a large portion of that project was re-purposed into Final Fantasy XV.

For reference, here's what that fight looked like on the original PlayStaion console.
