Ever since Square Enix announced that a remade version of the classic Final Fantasy VII was being in the works, it was almost a given that the game would be an instant success. The remake was finally released for the PlayStation 4 last month, and it was ver ywell received by fans of the original, critics, and newcomers to the series.
Final Fantasy VII Remake managed to take the number one spot in the UK sales chart, managing to surpass Capcom's Resident Evil 3 — which is also the remake of a beloved all-time classic — but we didn't get any information about the exact number of copies sold.
It was later revealed, thanks to official information from Square Enix, that over 3.5 million copies of Final Fantasy VII Remake had been shipped. What's more, the developer revealed that this impressive amount of copies had been sold in a mere three days.
Today, an entry on the official PlayStation Blog has revealed that Final Fantasy VII Remake topped the list on the PlayStation Store chart for the month of April, beating out other heavy hitters like Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, and NBA 2K20. It is worth mentioning, however, that those titles were released in Q4 last year.
Final Fantasy VII Remke did manage to surpass Activision's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered and the remake of Capcom's Resident Evil 3 — which released in March and April, respectively.
