Square Enix made dreams come true during E3 2015 by announcing a remake of
Final Fantasy 7 in a beautifully constructed trailer. The game is expected to launch on PS4 but beyond that and a brief gameplay trailer which was shown at PSX of that year, there's been very little information. The last we heard about the game was that development would now be handled internally. Now, a new batch of concept art has been revealed as part of a 30th Anniversary Exhibition dedicated to
Final Fantasy.
This new artwork is part of the
Worlds Aerith Left Behind exhibit and offers a new look at Midgar and the sector 5 church area which has been faithfully recreated. There was no concept art of any of the main characters but we do get another look at AVALANCHE members Biggs, Wedge, and Jessie who play a role in the early stages of the game. The artwork also displays more of Sector 7 and shows off the grimy and gritty art style that will be used to bring Midgar to life.
The
Final Fantasy 30th Anniversary Exhibition is being used to showcase the history of the franchise. Many of the different titles will have a presence at the exhibition and will offer fans old and new a look at the series origins. The exhibit takes place in the Mori Arts Center Gallery in Tokyo and will run from January 22nd to February 28th.
Production of the game is said to be going smoothly and the dev team is making progress, but director Tetsuya Nomura did warn us last year that it would be a while before we heard anything. However, Square Enix has teased that 2018 would be a big year for
Final Fantasy so hopefully, we get an update on the project sooner rather than later.
What do you guys think? Will we get an update on
Final Fantasy 7 soon? Do you think the game will have a presence at E3 this year?
