Chinese technology conglomerate NetEase is currently collaborating with some of the biggest game development studios working today, including Blizzard Entertainment (on
Diablo: Immortal) and Bungie (on
Matter). Yesterday, NetEase announced that they have acquired a minority stake in Quantic Dream, the French creators of
Fahrenheit: Indigo Prophecy, Heavy Rain, and
Beyond: Two Souls.
According to David Cage, the director of the aforementioned video games, this major investment will allow Quantic to significantly expand the studio’s size, moving up from the 200 developers they have right now to around 300. In an interview with VentureBeat, Cage expressed his desire to launch their games "
on all platforms," confirming
Detroit: Become Human was their last PlayStation exclusive.
It looks like Cage was talking not only about brand new multiplatform projects (possibly meaning PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC), but also mobile titles. As spotted by Twitter user The Hunter, Quantic is currently hiring for all-new iOS and Android positions. Considering that NetEase is co-producing Blizzard's controversial
Diablo: Immortal, it's highly probable that they are working closely with Quantic on yet unannounced video games that will also support mobile devices.
