It didn't take Amazon long to realize they had a hit on their hands with their Fallout series adaptation. The streamer was quick to greenlight a second season of the hit series.

In a time when fans are used to waiting two, sometimes three years, in between seasons of their favorite shows, Fallout series showrunners have been adamant that the wait for Season 2 shouldn't be too long. With much of the heavy lifting from Season 1 — such as sets, assets, and visual effects — already done, series showrunners Geneva Robertson-Dworet and Graham Wagner previously stated that they are working to get Season 2 out "as fast as humanly possible." And it sounds like they are sticking to their word.

In an interview with TheWrap about Amazon's big Emmys showing, Amazon MGM Studios television head Vernon Sanders was asked for any sort of update as to when Fallout Season 2 may be ready to premiere. While Sanders couldn't commit to a specific release date, he did offer a promising status update.

"Geneva and Graham and Jonah and Kilter have such a vision for this. They are hard at work, we already have scripts in hand for Season 2," Sanders revealed. "So we’re really far ahead because we knew we had something special all along. It’s premature for me to give you a release date. But I’ll tell you, we are working hard to be back as fast as possible. So I think people will be pleased with how quickly we’re able to get the show back. We just want to make sure we deliver everything that is on the page."

Sanders was also asked how many seasons he expects the series to run for and if there have been any conversations about potential spin-offs. Again, he couldn't go into specific details but did note that they see Fallout as a multiseason show.

"And Fallout is a big world, we’ve had a great partnership with Bethesda," he said. "So we’re in all sorts of conversations about what the future looks like. But we definitely think Fallout is a multi-season show that can go in a lot of different directions. So we’re very excited about what’s been laid out so far."

As for the possibility of any sort of spin-off, Sanders admitted that it's probably too early.

"These days we’re really trying to make sure that we really build the mothership in a way that could earn its way into a greater expansion and Bethesda has lots of plans for the video game franchise," he stated. "So those conversations are probably a little premature at this point. But we’re excited to have such a big landscape. We want to make sure that anything that we do truly feels earned and the fans will tell us if they want more."

Given the rich history and lore associated with the Fallout video game franchise, there's certainly more than enough source material to pull from. In fact, Season 2 of the series is expected to pull certain elements from the Fallout: New Vegas game, including the introduction of Deathclaws, more of Robert House, and even New Vegas (the city) itself.

Fallout is currently available to stream on Amazon's Prime Video platform. The first season was met with rave reviews from critics and fans alike and its at a 94% on Rotten Tomatoes.
