Per Variety, Atari wants to become a major global TV producer, setting up a new division that will seek to accomplish this goal. Roberrt Blagman of Media Fusion has been signed to a contract with the intent of finding global distribution for the content Atari produces. The first of which, titled Game On, is said to be an unscripted game show which places contestants in life-sized sets created to mimic popular Atari games.
In addition to its TV ventures, Atari is also looking to tackle the film industry, selling rights to Missle Command and Centipede earlier in 2016. Transmedia appears to be the strategy Atari thinks will produce profit as the once-mighty/now-struggling video game looks to right the ship after emerging from bankruptcy in 2014.
