Pokémon became a worldwide hit when the first Game Boy titles were released in the mid to late 90s. Ever since, the series has been given animated cartoons, trading cards, and even more video games for mobile devices, handheld systems, and even home consoles.
Just last year, in fact, the Pokémon series finally made its way to the big screen with Warner Bros. well-received Detective Pikachu live-action film; based on the spin-off title of the same name that released for the Nintendo 3DS in February of 2016.
Long story short, The Pokémon Company has been giving fans a wide variety of products that span multiple, and varied types of formats — and it seems like the company also wants to do something slightly different with its long-running franchise, as a recently released video reimagines Pokémon as a classic animated show.
"Chase the Bean" is the first episode in what's likely a new mini series called Pokétoon — which is being heavily inspired by cartoons from the golden age of American animation like Warner Bros. Looney Tunes; managing to make this new episode feel like a timeless classic.
This first episode of the Pokétoon series is directed by Japanese artist Taku Inoue, recently posted on the official Pokémon Kids TV YouTube channel, and sees Pokémon creatures Zuruggu and Mimikkyu running into each other on a train in charming fashion.
