With Season 2 of Fallout seemingly headed to New Vegas, showrunners of the hit Prime Video series have confirmed another major character from the video game will appear in the television series adaptation.
In a wide-ranging interview with Variety, showrunners Graham Wagner and Geneva Robertson-Dworet confirmed Robert House “will be involved” in Season 2.
It's a name that should be quite familiar to those who played the Fallout: New Vegas video game and for those who watched the television series, you may have caught a glimpse of the character in Season 1. Robert House was briefly shown in the pre-war flashback scene in which the then RobCo Industries boss plots with Vault-Tec management and the heads of other companies seemingly discuss triggering the nuclear apocalypse.
While he is only briefly featured in Season 1 of the show, Robert House is actually a major character in Fallout: New Vegas. Known as Mr. House, he's the enigmatic ruler of New Vegas with a goal of restoring the city to its pre-War glory as the crown jewel of technological innovation and paradise fo business and fortune.
Born and raised in the pre-war era, House -- armed with knowledge of the impending nuclear apocalypse -- made many contingency plans to ensure that the city of Las Vegas would survive the bombs. In doing so, he also took drastic measures to ensure he'd be around for the future rebuilding. Players discover that House had his brain wired directly into a supercomputer to extend his existence hundreds of years into the post-war era.
Confirmation of Mr. House's appearance in Season 2 of the show has sparked some interesting conversation as to which New Vegas ending will be adopted as official canon. The TV series is set in 2296, nine years after the events of Fallout 4 and 15 years after the events of Fallout: New Vegas. As such, how the show chooses to move forward with Mr. House and New Vegas will seemingly confirm one of the game's endings as official canon.
Mr. House isn't the only iconic person, or creature, from the games set to appear in Season 2. Series showrunners have also confirmed that Deathclaws will be present in the upcoming season. One of the most terrifying and deadly creatures you can come across in the Fallout video games, we never got to see the Deathclaw brought to life in the first season, although we did see the skull of one in the season finale.
Amazon quickly greenlit a second season of Fallout, announcing it just a week after the series debuted. While we still don't have a premiere date for the highly anticipated new season the showrunners claim they are "going as fast as we possibly can."
