Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon released as a DLC expansion back all the way back in 2013. Today, Ubisoft announced that they're working on an animated series by the name of
Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Vibe — this news comes courtesy of
The Hollywood Reporter.
Ubisoft has partnered with Adi Shankar, who is best known for developing the
Castlevania animated series for Netflix, to bring the young-adult series to life. Based on the poster that has been released, which you can check out below, it seems that the series will retain the neon look of the original game.
It's said that
Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Vibe will create a multiverse of sorts which consists of Ubisoft's various popular franchises. In the artwork alone we can see a massive beast reminiscent of the
Raving Rabbids games as well as someone wearing
Splinter Cell-esque night vision goggles.
Ubisoft Film & Television managing director, Helene Juguet, had this to say about working with Shankar on the project:
“Adi is such a great fan of video games. We share the same culture and references. It's been great to give him the freedom to do something very fresh and bold with our characters.”
Juguet continued, explaining how Ubisoft plan to adapt not only Far Cry: Blood Dragon but also other properties of theirs into successful animated series. “One of the incubator’s key projects is to translate the essence of video games. Our goal is to translate that into an innovative visual and engaging storytelling in animation.”
