Sony has announced earlier today, that they are currently working on a live-action TV series based on Square Enix's Final Fantasy XIV video game. The show will be a collaboration between Sony Pictures Television and Hivemind Entertainment, which is the same company that's behind Netflix's live-action The Witcher series.

According to the report, the Final Fantasy XIV live-action series will be taking place in Eorzea, and will be focusing on "the struggle between magic and technology in a quest to bring peace to a land in conflict," although the show it is also said to be in very early stages of development.

Considering how early in production this new TV series is, there are still no major announcements regarding the cast or tentative premiere windows. As per the report, the show will, indeed, be including "magitek and beastmen, airships, and chocobos", as well as a likely first live-action version of the Final Fantasy series' most recurring character: Cid.
