The "bootleg" multiverse is expanding in an unexpected direction, as
Castlevania executive producer Adi Shankar is working on an adaptation of Capcom's popular video game franchise,
Devil May Cry.
As revealed in IGN's report, Shankar just revealed that his
Devil May Cry series “
will join Castlevania in what we’re now calling the bootleg multiverse.” Unfortunately, we're still waiting for more specified details, but Shankar was at least kind enough to reveal why he has decided to purchase the rights, and his explanation is brilliantly simple - "
so the jabronis in Hollywood don’t f*** this one up too."
According to Shankar, this wouldn't be possible without the wild success of Netflix's
Castlevania, as this series "
really over-performed. It did crazy well. We immediately got greenlit for Season 3.” Thanking the fans who made this all possible, Shankar said, “
I wouldn’t have a job if it wasn’t for the fans." Minutes after the news broke, Shankar shared this wonderful fan art of Dante on social media:
A new demonic invasion has begun with the seeds of a demon tree being sown in Red Grave City. Now fully equipped with his trusty Red Queen and Blue Rose, and a new arsenal of rad robot hands thanks to his partner Nico, Nero must rise up to this new impossible task. With such insane amount of energy and destruction emanating from this surprise invasion, the stage is now set for the latest chapter of the “Sons of Sparda” saga.
Devil May Cry 5 is coming to Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC March 8, 2019.
