Based on the best-selling fantasy book series by Andrzej Sapkowski, that was popularised by renowned video game adaptations by CD Projekt Red,
"The Witcher is an epic tale of fate and family."
"Geralt of Rivia, a solitary monster hunter, struggles to find his place in a world where people often prove more wicked than beasts. But when destiny hurtles him toward a powerful sorceress, and a young princess with a dangerous secret, the three must learn to navigate the increasingly volatile Continent together," reads the official synopsis of upcoming Netflix series.
As was teased yesterday, Netflix has released an awesome trailer for
The Witcher which shows off some exciting action and a lot more of Henry Cavill (
Mission: Impossible — Fallout) as the titular character, Anya Chalotra (
Wanderlust) as Yennefer, and Freya Allan (
Into the Badlands) as Ciri.
While we knew that
The Witcher would arrive on the streaming service within the remainder of the year, we didn't have an exact release date until now. The new trailer reveals that the live-action series will debut on Netflix on December 20th.
