MECHWARRIOR 5: MERCENARIES Finally Announced With New Gameplay Trailer
If you are a fan of the classic MechWarrior series that allows you to pilot large unstoppable robotic suits of mass destruction, then you're going to be very happy when you see the new trailer for MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries. Click the jump to check it out.
Just recently at the annual MechCon being held in Vancouver, MechWarrior 5 was announced by Piranha Games. While this game is a part of the MechWarrior series, it isn't like MechWarrior Online. This game is purely a single-player experience, focusing wholeheartedly on a narrative that players will watch unfold. In the game, you'll put on the boots of a rookie pilot who is given various contracts by different warring factions.
The game is scheduled to be released in 2018, but even though the game is relatively far off, pre-alpha footage has been officially released that shows the first 7-minutes of the game. The video shows the Rookie piloting an older mech while getting involved in a battle. The trailer then goes on to show what the story is going to consist of for the overall game.
The game has been made using the Unreal Engine 4, and while this game is surely going to be Piranha's main focus, fans of MechWarrior Online won't have to worry about the studio ignoring said game, as Piranha also stated will continue on and will receive updates and patches like any other video game.
