Sea of Thieves was initially announced in June of 2015, during the Xbox conference at E3, as Rare's brand-new intellectual property — and immediately grabbing everyone's attention; after three years since the announcement, the game was finally released and was met with criticism and very low scores.

Thankfully, Rare listened to criticism from fans and managed to turn this whole situation around — and what once was a lackluster experience is now a proper game that keeps getting regular updates that have made Sea of Thieves the game that players deserved from day one.

Sea of Thieves has been so successful, in fact, that Rare has recently announced that the game has already managed to amass over 10 million players since its original launch all the way back in March of 2018. Rare has also revealed that, in order to celebrate the occasion, they will be offering two limited-edition gifts — in the form of a custom sail and new special emote — which players can claim by logging in to the game between the 15th and 22nd of January.

Executive Producer at Rare, Joe Neate, thanked players for their support and promised that they are" just getting started and have big plans for the coming year."

Sailing and fighting, exploring and looting... the pirate life awaits you! Enjoy total freedom in a shared world bursting with buried treasure, ancient shipwrecks and thrilling ocean battles.

Sea of Thieves is currently available on Xbox One and Windows 10.
