Ahead of
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare's multiplayer reveal,
which will take place tomorrow, Infinity Ward has confirmed a divisive aspect of the game's multiplayer mode. There will be both day and nighttime variants of some maps — perhaps all of them. This will presumably place a larger emphasis on the use of thermal and night vision — the latter being a staple of the
Modern Warfare subseries.
Be here to witness as livestreamers challenge (as well as team up with) each other across multiple game modes. This spectacle will include epic firefights using a wide variety of Operators, Loadouts, Killstreaks, and Field Upgrades across a number of brand-new maps, some with day and night-time variants. Expect bragging rights, hurt feelings, explosive and adrenaline-soaked match-ups, and insanely competitive combat!
This is an interesting reveal when also taking into account what the game's art director recently revealed about in-game clocks. That being that they will display the time accurately based on your real-life timezone (via
Kotaku).
This is both a cool, confusing, and unnecesary feature but in tandem with the aforementioned day/night revelation (via
Comicbook.com) could perhaps mean that if you're playing at night, that will be reflected on-screen by more than just your player-character's watch — but also the sky.
A similar feature which has been requested by the
Call of Duty community for some time now would be a dynamic weather system of some kind. However, nothing of the sort has been revealed just yet. We'll find out exactly how all these features work tomorrow when
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare's multiplayer gameplay premieres.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is set to release on October 25th for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
