Last month, Infinity Ward announced the next instalment in the
Call of Duty first-person-shooter franchise would be a soft reboot of, the iconic subseries,
Modern Warfare.
Based on the reveal trailer alone, it's clear that this new title will be the most realistic
Call of Duty game there has ever been. This has been reiterated by the game's developers who have said that they want it to be the closest representation of actual modern warfare that they could make.
But the realism doesn't stop at the inclusion of unfortunately realistic things like child soldiers, nor the graphics themselves. A recent tweet by
Charlie INTEL has revealed that
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will include realistic weapon effects and physics. Bullet drop, wherein your shot is affected by gravity, wind, and the like, would be an example of said effects.
While it has long been a feature of other shooter games like
Battlefield; this is a first for the
Call of Duty franchise, so naturally it has proven to be a divisive change. Many state that something like bullet drop isn't fit for an arcade shooter like
Call of Duty, while the other side believes that the change is inkeeping with the realism that the game is aiming for. Which side do you fall on?
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is set to release on October 25th for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
