Call of Duty: Modern Warfare has been officially announced with an exciting reveal trailer. The game will be a soft reboot of the popular
Modern Warfare subseries and appears to be the most realistic
Call of Duty title yet. The classic singleplayer campaign mode will be making a return and, while a ton of information about that has been revealed, details about the game's other modes are scarce.
Thankfully, two exciting and revolutionary tidbits about the upcoming game's multiplayer mode have been revealed (via
Eurogamer).
The next instalment in the
Call of Duty series will be taking a massive, new step for the franchise as it will introduce cross-play which will span every platform that the game releases on. This includes the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. This will make
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare one of the few games to support cross-play across the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
But wait! There's even more good news. The multiplayer mode will indeed feature cross-play, but something it won't feature is a season pass. That's right, no longer will you have to pay upwards of $40 upfront (on top of the price of the game) to have access to post-launch content. Sounds too good to be true, doesn't it? Well we'll inform you if there are any drawbacks once they make themselves known.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is set to release on October 25th for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
