The next instalment in the
Call of Duty series has officially been revealed. As you'd expect, given the countless leaks and rumours, it's titled:
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. Activision (
@CallofDuty) has also revealed that game will be releasing on October 25th, 2019.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is a reboot of what is arguably the most popular subseries in the franchise. According to Infinity Ward, while the game isn't set in the exact same continuity of the
Modern Warfare trilogy, it will feature the return of some familiar faces (like Captain Price).

Virtually no information about the game's multiplayer mode has been revealed, but we do know that the game will see the return of the classic single-player campaign mode. It's said that there will be some kind of overlap between the two modes.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare's story (via
Gamespot) will revolve around
"Russian interactions with the Middle East, while enemies will include an ultranationalist group helping to execute terrorist attacks in major cities such as London." That does sound similar to the
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 mission by the name of 'No Russian' which the game was rumoured to have been inspired by.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is set to release on October 25th for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
