August began with Infinity Ward and Activision debuting multiplayer gameplay of the next instalment in the
Call of Duty first-person shooter series:
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. As well as straight-up gameplay, a trailer was released — which you can check out below.
Based on the footage, it's clear that
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare's multiplayer is unlike its predecessors. However, there are some aspects which it has in common with them — notably, killstreaks (via
Comicbook.com).
Killstreaks have long been a part of
Call of Duty multiplayer and essentially allow the player to call in some heavy artillery onto the battlefield. Though their name is pretty self-explanatory, players can unlock killstreaks by getting multiple kills without dying. Below is a list of every single killstreak that
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will include as well as how many kills are required to get them.
By getting a three killstreak, you'll be able to call in either a UAV or a Counter UAV. A Care Package will cost 4 kills. A variety of missiles can be called in for 5 kills, they're the Cluster Strike, Cruise Missile, and Precision Airstrike.
Wheelson and an Infantry Assault Vehicle can be called in for 7 kills. By getting an 8 killstreak, the player can get either an Emergency Airdrop or VTOL Jet. A Chopper Gunner, Support Helo, or White Phosphorus can be called in for 10 kills. An Advanced UAV or Gunship for 12 kills. Finally, a Juggernaut for 15 kills.
Not considered a killstreak, but still essentially a killstreak, is the nuke. Long has the
Call of Duty fanbase wanted the iconic nuke to make a comeback and now it finally will be. Unlocking the nuke will take 25 kills. It's unclear exactly how it'll work though it will presumably kill every player on the battlefield at once or end the match entirely.
Below you can check out a video which shows off each and every one of the aforementioned killstreaks:
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will be coming to the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on October 25th, 2019.
