In May, we reported that Infinity Ward has apparently decided to return to developing the Modern Warfare titles after two previous games, Call of Duty: Ghosts, and Infinite Warfare which are the two most poorly received games in the blockbuster franchise. According to the Charlie INTEL crew, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 will also feature a single-player campaign, alongside the new customary Call of Duty multiplayer experience, and the return of the vastly popular and undying Zombie mode.
A new job listing at Infinity Ward suggests that the developer is working on a new first-person shooter that will be a both multiplayer and single player focused game. The developer has recently posted a new job listing looking for a Narrative Scripter. "Come work with the game industry’s brightest on a new, exciting, unannounced title for multiple next gen platforms," the official job posting reads.
Alongside this information, the listing also reveals that the multiplayer shooter will have a high focus on cinematic narration. "In this hands-on role, you’ll collaborate with scripters, sound designers, writers, and directors to implement voice-over performances in-game across a wide variety of player experiences – from combat to set-pieces." We can't have a COD game without some scripts, after all.
Considering that the whispers of a the next generation of consoles just won’t seem to disappear and Microsoft is officially designing a next-gen system (codenamed Scarlet), there's a big chance Infinity Ward's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 will be, just like their Call of Duty: Ghost, a cross-gen title...
